Hi Tom,
Appreciate your feedback.
I've only been actively involved with this group for a short time and I'm
very
thankful and impressed with the knowledge and suggestions offered to me.

Tom, you've made a good point and I'm exploring all options.

I have the Haynes Repair Manual for this vehicle and to remove the door
panel trim
is very well explained in sufficient detail for me.
About 2 years back I purchased this manual from Discount Auto Parts /
Advance
Auto Parts for about $16.00.

The reason I am hesitant to remove this particular panel (LF) is that this
door is
home base (electrically) for all doors (power locks, windows, mirrors,
etc.).
Potentially I may inadvertently open a bag of worms. Not worth taking a
chance
and its probably most beneficial to leave well enough alone.

At this point it may be best for me to just disable the code for the power
locking
system and go manually. With the history of these actuators on my car and
from
what others have shared I feel certain going with Manual Locking is the way
to go.

Many thanks again for your suggestion and have a happy holiday.
EJ

The thing that really costs, is that the lock solenoid and door latch
mechanism is a one piece design. They also are not interchangeable, from
front to rear, and left to right. No after market lock solenoid is going
to fit in original location. If the locks don't work now, you are already
in "manual" mode. Why pay the dealer? Because of the noise? You can find
"on-line" Chrysler dealers that offer discounts, and no taxes on out of
state sales. I would think the hardest part of changing these is not
tearing up the door panels too bad. Two actuator rods, (lock and
handle), and attaching screws at the outside end of the door. Just my
  observation. Tom
