Cylinder misfires after start with good fuel pressure
are generally spark delivery problems, though it could also
be airflow. Follow the manual...plugs and wires are the next route.

Your TB isn't sticking, is it?

Another possibility....crankshaft position sensor seems to be a
common failure point in LH series vehicles, and it would cause this
condition (so could camshaft position sensor, though it is less prone
to failure). CKP sensor failure is usually indicated by the "cruise"
light flashing during misfire.

One final thing to check is timing...if the belt jumped a tooth it
would cause rough idle and multiple misfires.

The O2 sensor code is probably coming up due to the misfires. It would
not be a factor in starting or idle while in open-loop mode.

Cheers.

Subject: [dodge_intrepid] Fail to Start

Unusual problem with my 1995 3.5, which ran fine yesterday, then failed
to
start this morning.

Fuel pump runs during the start attempt, and you can smell fuel at the
exhaust. Only an occasional cylinder fires, enough to take the rpm
above
the starter speed, but it does not run.

FSM says 48 psi fuel pressure with no vacuum on the regulator, like when
it
will not start. We measure 50 psi, so there should be enough to at
least
idle.

Key dance gives 12, 21, 55. Oxygen sensor, plus the usual. O2 sensor
should not be a factor on a cold start, right? The PCM should be using
a
table to set fuel flow.

FSM says next step is coil or plug wires. So I guess it is time for new

wires, and borrow a coil to test that.

Anyone have similar problems? Anything else to check?

Thanks,

Jack
