Yea I see everyones concern. Does anyone know what kind of problems I might run into when it comes to the EPA? I know all 3 engines were available with the car and all are 50 state emissions certified, but by the book it is still considered tampering with emissions systems. If it were 10+ years old, I wouldn't be the least bit worried. If I was gonna keep it forever and run it to the ground I also wouldn't be worried. I've been doing some reading and I keep getting conflicting stories on what exactly needs to be changed over to do a successful 3.2 or 3.5 swap. On top of that, there are timing chain failures that are disasterous. Now, here's my side of the story that might be found interesting. I will use this 2.7 for example. The story was that the CHECK ENGINE light came on while driving, followed by the oil light and shortly after the engine started making all sorts of noise and supposively lost power couldn't hardly go anymore. There are no codes stored in the engine computer. Wether or not they have since been cleared I cannot tell. It might be safe to assume the CHECK ENGINE light never came on. You know how people are. I have seen a couple 2.7's where the timing chain tensioner O-ring had failed, resulting in a loss of oil pressure throughout the engine when its warm. Boom, oil light comes on and the chain rattling around makes noise and of course with no oil pressure the bearings aren't getting proper lube and either the loose chain gives up first causing disaster and/or a bearing spins which is also disasterous. Either way a new engine is in order. This is just a little theory I've come up with on my own. There must be a cause of the bearing failures. Usually its caused by lack of lubrication or contamination of the oil system in other engines.
