Sorry to reply to the question and add my 2 cents worth so very late in the 
game... my computer has been ill lately.
   
  Anyway, I had the same problem a couple of years back on my '99 Intrepid with 
the same 2.7. It turned out to be the oil "sending" unit or the oil "sensor" 
unit; I can't remember which one it's called. But like yours mine was coming on 
when I would come to a complete stop and just prior to coming to that complete 
stop the oil light would slightly flicker than come completely on when I would 
come to that stop. One I began to accelerate the light would go out. Took it to 
my local Dodge dealer and they corrected the problem saying it was one of those 
two things. (At the time of the incident it covered by Chrysler's extended 
warranty)
