 Bob, 
 I was having a simular problem with my car at one time. My trans had
lots less miliage than your's, so this may not be any help to you. I
purchased a replacement valve body from a dealership on line. Seems to
have stopped the delayed shift problems, but the other thing I learned
was to only use the ATF+3 fluid on the first gen trans. I tryed the ATF+4
and was dissappointed in the shudder and "funny feel" I had after that. I
used a new filter each time, and only changed 5 quarts by dropping the
pan. I felt better results with the ATF+3 and saved a little money not
buying it from a local dealership.  Tom
