A little off the subject, but talking about driving in the rain at 70MPH...

I use Rain-X, and sometimes one of the brand-X equivalents. The stuff
really works -- the rain, almost no matter how hard it comes down,
really beads up and blows off, and your vision is truly superior. I
have driven through a thunderstorm at 70 with the wipers set on the
longest interval setting; you really don't need the wipers much.

The downside is that the effect only lasts for a certain amount of
time before the action of the wipers wears it off. It usually lasts a
month or so for me before I have to reapply it; about a 15 minute job
if done right by cleaning the windshield thoroughly. But if we
happen to have a month with a lot of rain, sometimes you'll notice the
effect wearing off sooner.

On the side and back windows it lasts a really long time and is also helpful.

I've never tried the stuff that you just pour into the washer fluid
reservoir. I dunno how well that would work.
