Hey all--

Just wondering if someone can shoot me an idea as to what's going on in
the front on my car. I've got an '04 SXT (15,143 miles) and about
two/three weeks ago I starting hearing a crunching/creaking noise up
front when ever I'd have to brake fast-- not hard, just fast. Then when
I'd begin to accelerate that same noise would occur. But remember, only
when braking fast and then accelerating; it doesn't do it while driving.
So, I took the car to the local Dodge Dealer here and service techs
inspected the car and stated that it's the calipers gripping and
releasing and that this was normal. Hmmm. That's a new one for me...
considering that I owned a '99 Intrepid, put 49,000 on her and never had
any "brake" related noises or issues of any kind. Well, the noise has
become louder and it can now be felt within the steering wheel and
within the cabin. I returned to the dealership again today for a second
look, had a tech drive with me, he heard and felt what was going on,
kept the car for a couple hours and again they stated that it's the
calipers. Now look: I'm not a mechanic... but I'm not a moron, either.
Something seems serious wrong and I'm actually beginning to think that
perhaps my struts up front might be bad. I even called a couple of shops
that specialize in brake repair and they stated that although calipers
do stick they said on my car with only 15,000 miles it's very, very
unlikely. I do know that when I go over a speed bump that my right-front
side emits a loud creaking noise. I remember also that at somewhere
between 35,000 and 45,000 I did have to have new struts installed on the
other Intrepid I owned because of some very hard piece of white/cream
colored plastic broke off around the top of the strut causing creaking
and at that time clunking noises.

Anyway, anybody got any suggestions?
