The oil light is PROBABLY no big deal, but it is definitely worth
looking into just to make sure. I've owned several 2nd generation LH
cars now and each and every one of them had the oil pressure sending
unit problem where the oil light would come on at idle. Even before I
started the car, the light would flicker instead of being on constant
like it should have been.

The gear shift problem is common on the column-shift cars as well. I
never actually fixed one, but what I always did was gently pull down on
the gear selector while rapidly move it forward and backwards and it
always came out of park and this problem would not happen again for 3-4
days when it was cold. Some type of mechanism in the steering column
is getting stuck and needs to work loose. Remember to be pushing on the
brake pedal while doing this.
