I think all cars should have these anchor points, but pretty much only 
imported cars have them. Those anchor points are SOOOO handy to have--
although the car's user manual says otherwise, I use them for jacking 
and towing.  They're often VERY tough and I see no reason to not use 
them for that purpose.

On your Intrepid, in the front, it is easier.  Just wrap the strap 
around the subframe and give er hell, being careful not to damage the 
front facia.  That subframe will support anything you can throw at it.  
In the rear, the only option is to hook it onto the end of of the 
control arms which aren't very beefy.  Don't hook it to them middle of 
them, cuz that will potentially bend it. Thats what the tow truck 
driver is going to do.  Unless you're REALLY stuck, like way down an 
embankment, you shouldn't have to worry too much about hurting anything 
very much, as long as a little common sense is used.

Don't hook it to the bumper shock--ever see that video on the internet 
where these kids hook a strap up to a Geo like that and tear the entire 
back of the car off?  Thats likely to happen to any car.
