I think I found it. I bought it used, & it had sat a while. I did the usual "tune up" . Change the oil & filter, air filter, some quality oil additive, injector cleaner, etc.. I used STP fuel injector cleaner (fuel additive) on an empty tank and only put in about 3 gallons of gas. (Due to nasty gas prices). The bottle said to add at least 10 / or up to 21 gallons. When all that ran out & I put in some fresh fuel, it seems OK now. I drove it about 20 miles today and it ran perfect. I'll keep you posted if the problem arises again. Thanks to all who replied. Any comments welcome...

Does it do this shudder while accelerating at all speeds? Or is it only at like 45+ mph? Sounds like an ignition misfire somehow to me. What happens when you make it shudder at 55 mph and then lightly tap the brake pedal without taking your foot off the throttle?
