After letting the beast sit for a few weeks I went out, removed the thermostat yoke and filled up the block with as much coolant as I could. Ran for a while & did not overheat, bled some air out of the vent on the thermo. yoke during run time. The reservoir was low, afterward, refilled after cooling and ran some more. During the first period of running that day there was heat in the car, later, nothing but cold. THE INTERESTING PART WAS I DID NOT SEE ANY LEAKS. MAKES ME WONDER IS THE HEAD GASKET SEALER THAT THE MECHANIC USED TOOK A WHILE TO GET IN THE VOIDS AND SET UP...
Let the car sit again until this weekend. Reservoir was still at a good level ran for 30 minutes and no over heating or leaks observed. BUT... now it heats the car very well. Guess I will try a short country drive or two and see if it tends to overheat then. ----- Original Message ----- From: Craig To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, October 11, 2008 11:33 PM Subject: Re: [dodge_intrepid] heater blows cold Sounds to me more like low coolant level, but you've already checked that, right? Craig Date: Saturday, October 11, 2008, 7:17 PM Ive got a 99 intrepid 2.7 and im having heat probs. If you start the car and let it ilde to warm up and put the heater on it just blows cold no matter how long you let it idle , but if you rev the engine up it starts pumping out lots of heat and you will get heat as long as your driving but as soon as you let the car go back to idle it starts blowing cold air again. I suspect its a vacum line leak that is causing the prob but just wondered if anyone has had same prob and how they fixed it ? any help or sugestion would be apreciated Thanks.>>>>> >Jeff [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ Web: <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dodge_intrepid> Subscribe: <mailto://[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Unsubscribe: <mailto://[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Moderator: <mailto://[EMAIL PROTECTED]>Yahoo!
