thanks for the email. Actually, I just bought a 3.5 last week to go with my 2.7 
and  it's at the garage today having the timing belt changed as the previous 
owner hadn't had it done. It was when I was researching all this that I found 
out about the timing chain going on 2.7's. There were a couple of times when my 
garage mentioned having the belt changed on the 2.7 but then corrected 
themselves to say that it isn't necessary because it has a chain. I was rather 
dismayed to see that the chain isn't reliable although I'm not sure whether 
that's just internet rumour. I lived in the UK and had a Citroen with hydraulic 
suspension - beautiful car

fabulous ride because of the hydraulics. But people always moaned that the 
hydraulics were unreliable. I had 6 Citroens with the hydraulics and never once 
had a problem. They were cheap too because of the unwarranted reputation. I 
kind of wonder if the Intrepid timing chain issue is similar.
