I had thought that the 3.5 liter engine in my 1996 Intrepid was an interference
engine because the owners manual strongly advises changing the timing belt at
100,000 miles. However the timing belt on it broke several years ago and not
knowing what was wrong I cranked it over several times while that was broke and
it did not damage anything. So it must not be an interference set up in that
engine.
