Hi Laurie & John, We currently have 14 H-36 Dimonas on the Australian register. Additionally there are 7 HK-36 Super Dimonas.
Keep an eye out for a revised AN on the H-36 which I have been working on & is nearly finished. It incorporates new info on fuel lines, the canopy pin problem, trim springs, wheel bearing seals and air filter installation. Hi John, Its been a while since I've been to Leeton but hope all is well out there and say hi to Alan for me. I had an interesting experience earlier in the year where after having DI'd GYT I found a short length of tapered metal rod on the cockpit floor. It turned out to be one of the canopy forward locating pins which had fractured. Goes without saying that my DI now includes a good check of these pins and I recommend to all owners that they do the same. Another recommendation is an approved mod for a separately mounted car type spin on oil filter developed by Nigel and Rob Thompson I believe. This has an incredible impact on oil cooling and our issue is only ever the oil being too cool and never too hot irrespective of operating conditions and ambient temps. I've done some long trips through central Queensland and across the top to Darwin, into WA and back through the centre in GYT so if you ever contemplate heading out that way I'm happy to give you info. I know Nigel will confirm Arkaroola in Northern SA as an interesting place to stop over. I think we threw around the idea of a Dimona 'fly-in' for the future, possibly at Arkaroola, didnt we Nige? How many H36s flying in Oz John?
