Hope you mean 400degF. I will get a photo of our latest out - it is big
with a last little kickdown. . Last week I sat around one nite with
about 6 people with Mr RV (Richard Van xyz) and he says the out of
engine air is the most important thing and he discussed the last little
kick down as we sat in a hangar with 2 different suck out Pawnees. The
NSW AIrcadets Pawnee was much more than Brad Edwards IGR Pawnee

400degF corresponds to 205degC which I believe is 25degC too high.
370degF is 188degC which is aiming point for full power.

If you have EGTs it is MAX full power 1256degF (ie 680degC) BUT at 70%
power it can rise 25degC more.

The bonus of a cool engine (ie <180degC) is you NEVER have to adjust
tappets from one 100hrs to the next 100hrs

I have something from the Sonex people who do the Aerovee engine

Hi Doglist,

A while ago there was a discussion regarding changing the air outlet of
the Dimona to reduce engine temperatures. I have recently overhauled the
engine of my Dimona and want to ensure I do not overheat. I constantly
find myself on take off with CHT's running to 400 degrees C and really
have to reduce throttle to get anywhere near a max of 370. Can changes
be done to the outlet to increase the airflow through the engine? Any
ideas will be highly appreciated. I must add that we are currently
flying in ground temperature conditions of 32 - 35 dgrees C.

Best Regards

Not sure where I saw this, but on the sta-bil website, they are coming
out with a fuel treatment for ethanol early next year.....not sure if
will help with fiberglass tanks....rb

Lynn:

I wonder of MMO would protect fiberglas tanks from ethanol by coating
the tank?
