Hi all, I was advised a couple of hours ago that with effect COB today the STOA position will cease to exist in the GFA & thus I have been made redundant. The GFA board has been seeking applications for some time now for a new full time CTO position which will have responsibility for both Airworthiness and Ops, and while it was suggested to me that if I were to apply for the new position my application would be viewed favourably, at my stage in life I do not want a full time job. In addition I do not believe that one person will be able to adequately manage the workload of the two positions. The job is now vacant, with no replacement so far as I know, so if you are looking for a career change with long hours & low reward:................ I have enjoyed working in this position for the last seven & half years and will miss the contact with the airworthiness people (& quite often ops people too) and members in the field and at the various clubs where I have always been made most welcome, even when I occasionally had to be a bit firm. (I will not miss the 3 hour a day commute from Werribee to Somerton:- for those who have not been to the new offices they are very swank, but it's a pity they are located just south of Sydney!!!!) Regarding those airworthiness issues & projects in the process of resolution at the moment, and there are a few, I have been given no instructions as to who will fill in until someone is appointed, so I can only suggest that you address them to Edwin Grech-Cumbo.
