I think he did but found they were inedible. Overcooked I think.

I remember as a teenager going on s spotlighting weekend with some mates and
camped overnight. In the morning we awoke to very cold conditions and the fire
had gone out.
Wanting to get moving we loaded up the eski’s with the rabbits from the nights
shooting and camping gear considering we would have cold baked beans for
brekkie.
I then had a brainwave. The owner of the car we were in had the day before
shown of his flash new extractors he had just had fitted to the old 186 Holden.
Of course being a 6 cylinder this gave me enough gaps to jam in 4 tins of Heinz
between the pipes.
Seemed like a good idea at the time!!!!
Driving down the road I was asked how long do you think. I had no idea but you
can imagine the pipes running at basically EGT it wouldn't be long.
Shortly after I suggested stopping to check on brekkie.
As I walked to the front to lift the bonnet there was an almighty bang. I stood
back sheepishly and suggested we wait to let things cool down a bit. Right
about then there was a second eruption and the odour of burning baked beans was
pronounced. The other 2 tins survived and we did finally eat them however I
never lived it down with those guys and the smell from the front was pretty
strong for the first 80 odd K’s.
I think I was about 17 at the time.

Nigel/Team.

We had a problem which manifested as insufficient takeoff revs - intermittently.

After weeks chasing our tail we finally found an exhaust blockage -
intermittently. (see attached pics)

It appears that a piece of metal which had detached from the end of the
perforated outlet pipe which it normally seals found its way further down that
pipe largely blocking it off - some of the time! Some of us recall playing
tricks on our car-owner mates by bunging a potato into the end of their exhaust
pipe.

Rgds
Phil Behnke.
