Hi Laurie,

Thats interesting. With the rocket (Dimona) here , I have replaced the
throttle cable (Outer and Inner) with an almost identical cable (Morse)
which is about 1.0mm larger in diameter and has a correspondingly larger
diameter inner, less prone to bending fatigue

The clamp (friction ??) which the inner cable attaches ..... , I have
turned one up from brass stock to fit, making it a loose fit thru the
throttle rod arms. The locking screw that screws into that fitting needs a
rounded end to clamp the cable inner against the hole in the fitting.
Sounds double Dutch but I looked at that arrangement and figured that there
could be a problem there with the inner breaking and wasn't that brought on
with the original.

Best regards

Ian Williams

Subject: [DOG mailing list] Throttle Cable Break

Hi All,

I was preparing to take a new student for a flight this morning and had him
accompany me on the DI on our H36 as he has a technical background.

While pointing out the areas to check under the cowl I moved the throttle
linkage to feel for integrity and the bloody wire snapped where is goes
through the friction fitting.

Rob has recommended lubricating this point as if there is any rolling
resistance by the fitting it would have to result in stress to the inner
wire.

After much hunting around I found a supplier of a replacement inner.
