Hi Ian, Interesting Jab. newsletter. Manganese and Toluene were the reason for the problems with the resins in Dimona fuel tanks. Also others including BMW cars. I came across a problem when I changed to 98 mogas last year. First signs were higher head temps. After tidying up baffles and airflow without much success I was speaking to a friend who races motorbikes and he had similar problems. To cut a long story short we had fuels tested in a laboratory in Adelaide. 98 mogas stored in a plastic jerrycan turned into 91 octane in 14 days. Not quite as bad in metal container but still bad. It seems that mogas "goes off " very quickly so only use when fresh and from a source that has a quick turn over. I note the 100LL replacement in Europe is 91 octane.
