Changing the system can be a big issue and have gone that with fixed wooden
Bishton Props (was approved CASA prop maker) on VW and that went on for 5
years or more.

The worst prop you can have is metal and then glass. The good thing nearly
always after a prop strike with wooden prop there is no damage to the
engine at pull down.

The other issue is people leaving glider outside in bad weather and letting
prop base get wet. I have seen wooden prop covers which are ripstop nylon
top and nylon mesh bottom for prop to breath. I am not sure where to buy
same but would be a good idea for trips away.

The paying $5000 each 6 yrs 11 months is about $700 a year which is
bearable.

re MT vs Hoffmann. As I see it the main visual difference is s/s leading
edge (MT) and brass (Hofmann). I have been recently told brass is the
better as is softer and damage is done where the stone hit in a smaller
area is where as s/s dents over a bigger area and S/s can lift off prop.
What do others know?
