Hi Nigel,
Sounds like an idea worth investigating.

Could you confirm that:
1- We would keep our existing hubs?
2- We all kick in for the development of a new FRP blade system by Bolly?
3- The new system, not requiring lag screws into timber, would not need the
overly cautious 6 year overhaul.

Questions:
1- How would we go with Hoffman for spare parts if we are using their hub
without their blades?
2- Will Bolly be subsidising the process as they have a lot of potential sales
worldwide?
3- Any preliminary idea of costs for Bolly to do this?

cheers
Rob

Subject: [DOG mailing list] Bloody Hoffmann Props

Hi All.
Mt prop is due at the end of the year and I am not looking forward to the
expense and hassles of the 6-7 year routine.
I have spoken to Bolly Props about a solution.
Thus I am looking for interest.
My thought is FRP blades to replace our timber units and run the same
design hub.
In other words a FRP copy.
To do this would mean testing and CASA assessment for certification. There
would be a significant cost but spread over at least 24 users in Australia
alone
likely worth while.
My suggestion is a TBO of at least 1000 hours. No calendar life and the
leading edge strips would be able to be replaced in OZ instead of going back to
Germany.
Comments please.
Nige.
