Think silicon is a no no for fuel line fittings for sure. I do use silicon in the end of the red fire sleeving to seal the end grain of the sleeving(stops wicking of oil etc into firesleeving) however if you ever need to push a fuel hose through you MUST cover end of hose with masking tape etc as I once found a tiny piece of white curly stuff in carb & only place that could come from was inside of red fire sleeving.
I realise this is stating the obvious.
