Hi Slacko.
Yep your pretty much on the money.
The initial spring tension load is fine. Once the coils start to open up much
you are getting too tight.
No tension and you may get shimmy. Too much load and there is little ability
for the castor angle of the fork to influence things and this makes it real
twitchy.

Now, are you enjoying it?.
Nige.

Hi Rob,

how tight is right? I read your posts on the dog list. But can you be explicit?
I currently have my cables adjusted fairly tight. Manual says 5 plus or minus
one KG, displacement 2 cm. That is very tight indeed. I think mine are perhaps
half that. My Springs are just beginning to develop a load ie all slack is
taken out. I taxi tested it and has very quick response. Does that sound about
right? For a beginner like me.

Further to what Nigel said...

Try the prop both ways round to find the smoothest running and then use Nigel's
dynamic balancer to fine tune the balance.

I have recently dealt with some props that were VERY poorly balanced straight
out of the prop shop.

Nigel's balancer fixed that.

The correct orientation is 90deg to the crankshaft throw.
Best way is put the crank at the ignition timing mark.
Pick up the prop and walk to the engine holding it roughly 30deg anticlockwise
to vertical viewed from the front and hey presto the studs line up with the
holes.
Cheers.

When refitting propeller does anyone know the correct orientation that the
propeller should be placed at if the engine is at TDC for cylinder no.1 ?

I have checked both Dimona & Limbach service manuals as well as service
bulletins and service information and I haven't been able to find this info.

Your advice appreciated.
