Greg,

Sorry got the names mixed, but it may help Ian as well, but our system is only
suitable on smooth hard surface. Concrete hangar floor.

Subject: RE: [DOG mailing list] Hangar dolly?

Ian,

We have such dollies and a neat system for our Taifun. (one type of lifting
system) Three dollies. No mods to the dollies, just tapered carriers for the
mains, and fixed for the “Front “ (Tri-cycle retractable)

I also had similar dollies modified for our Dimona, which unfortunately was
written off before we could use them.

However they should fit my C180 as they fit into the center hollow axle which
is about the same size as the Dimona.

I will take photos and send them to you.

The system for the Taifun works really well, you can push and pull in almost
any direction, and fit the wings etc in where normally you would be hard pushed
or even impossible.

The only difficult bit is getting the dolly wheels going in the direction you
want. Bit of gentle pushing and it then is set and goes easily and very
controllable.

Subject: [DOG mailing list] Hangar dolly?

I'm looking at modifying a couple of these roller dollies to move a Dimona in
and out of a hangar sideways.

These don't fit under the rear of the wheel spats so am considering removing
the rubber roller and fitting a steel wedge to go under the spat. Before we
re-invent the wheel I thought it worth asking if anyone has done something
similar. Please let me know what works for you.

The advantage of these dollies is that the glider doesn't need to be pushed up
onto them as they lift the wheels.

Am planning to cut a slot in one of these and fiberglass in a cup to support
the tailwheel.

PS Concrete hangar and roll-out ramps.
