G'day All, Do any of you with Rotax motors have any experience with adding a soft start circuit to the ignition?
For the benefit of the non-rotax DOG people, the rotax ignition system creates two sparking points.... one normal timing and one retarded for starting. Zener diodes are supposed to filter out the first spark at cranking speeds but often it doesn't - resulting in the engine stopping dead when cranking. I think maybe the simplest option being a couple of diodes that are switched in when the starter button is pressed and then disengaged when the button is released.
