OOOOOPS just realized this was still in my drafts so a really late reply.

Read “by Crickey” as Steve Erwin would say.

Yep they progressively get a lean to them.

Swap side for side to go the other way and get another 20 years out of them.

The cable tension is to take the thrust loads of the engine prop combination in
powered flight.

These loads are in fact quite low.

Applying excessive load to the cables drawing the bearers rearward is a
negative move.

This has been apparent from the experience of many H36 operators.

By cracky I think you are right!

I twisted the upper plate just a little and the slope disappeared.

Thanks for the quick response, Slacko can rest easy tonight... unresolved
aircraft puzzles always disturb my slumber.

I have seen something similar.

I think it is caused by the v brace wires being a little over tightened and
over time the rubber bends towards the front.

Hope everyone is well,

I am replacing my rear motor mounts, just for fun as the originals are
perfectly fine , with spares from the Thai Air Force.

I noticed something odd about the originals - although they are identical (i.e.
not left or right handed), the rubber bit is sloped oppositely. Thus the flange
notch, the offset stud which fastens to the frame, everything is identical
except for the sloped side which is mirror symmetrical.

I've looked at vanagon parts and they don't mention handedness, nor have
different part numbers.

Installed new blocks okay (no slope on them ) everything seems fine, motor sits
the same.

Is there a right hand/left hand issue here ?

Any thoughts?

Two photos attached.
