Hello all,
When you mount an inner tube in your main landing gear tires do you use the
small metal washer/collar around the valve stem or discard it ? It is
designed to prevent chafing, herniating, or cutting by the 90 degree edge
of the valve stem hole in the rim and is included with all tubes that I buy
here in the states. I was told by a reputable aero tire company (Desser)
that usage was optional with this wheel, but Cleveland has not yet answered
my query.
I prefer not to use it because it does not seat positively in, say, a
countersunk area or have a neck to fix it in the center of the rim hole.
Seems fine without it as the rubber is quite thickened around the tube
where it incorporates the valve stem.
