SUMMARY: In response to the December 26 tsunami and earthquake in Asia and Africa, the American Red Cross seeks an experienced program manager to develop and carry out the objectives of the American Red Cross relief, recovery and mitigation framework in Indonesia. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Program Coordinator will provide technical assistance and project oversight to a team of program staff in designing, implementing, and evaluating tsunami response programs in community health, psychosocial support, school-based health and nutrition, family tracing, water and sanitation, disaster planning and preparedness, and restoring community infrastructure and rebuilding livelihoods in collaboration with Red Cross and non-Red Cross partners. The Program Coordinator will support the American Red Cross Senior Country Representative as a liaison with other Red Cross partners, UN agencies, and government and non-government agencies involved in related tsunami response programs and collaborate in promoting high quality and complementary efforts. QUALIFICATIONS: Advance degree in public health, social and/or management sciences and minimum of five years related experience required, including at least two years overseas experience. Field experience internationally in conducting and/or supervise needs assessments and surveys, data analysis, project design, and evaluation required, and preferably for both emergency and development programs. Solid project management experience with a proven track record of successful teamwork needed. Experience in Asia preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. This position will be based in Banda Aceh and will require up to 40 percent travel within Indonesia.
