[dom4j-user] sorting a dom4j DOM or possibly just using selectNodes with a sortXpath

Hi! I'm trying to select the nodes from a dom4j DOM with an sortXpath (as listed here http://www.dom4j.org/dom4j-1.4/apidocs/org/dom4j/XPath.html#selectNodes(java.lang.Object,%20org.dom4j.XPath) )  but with no luck. Could anyone give an example on how to write an sortXpath? Wouldn't it be nice if Node and/or Element had a .sort() method taking an xpath as sort key?
