I've never personally understood that either -- it seems that it puts a
lot of extra stress on the OpenSRS support teams, as that appears to be
the only vehicle for resetting these accounts credentials in the
inevitable case of a customer forgetting things.

To their credit, they are extremely responsive.  With the 'subaccount'
features, it just seems unnecessary.

When I wrote the Net::OpenSRS module for CPAN, I decided to sidestep
that entirely.

Nice.  I started the process of porting the perl stuff to ruby, but
other ventures and real life have kept me side tracked. :)
