Whoa, you are getting off on the wrong foot. Already (as you see) the market-speak alarms are going off. This sounds like a form blow-off, not an answer. Ross -- you might want to jump in here before the marketing side blows this out of proportion. > Tucows does not support spamming. Hosting mailing lists isn't wrong per say, we do it ourselves with Mailman. However, Constant Contact/Roving is bad news. They have a bad reputation, and a few minutes on Google will tell you that. > We hope this defines our objectives for this initiative. No, not in the least. Moreover, what 'your objectives are' is a completely different question from the method used to achieve it. Frankly, my first thought was positive -- that OpenSRS would provide a reliable way of possibly hosting lists with more tracking requirements than we could provide with Mailman. Seeing that it is Constant Contact used to do it was a complete surprise, and is the problem. Now, a discussion just yesterday in SPAM-L seems to indicate CC might be getting better. It's entirely possible they are about to turn over a new leaf. On the other hand, they have not backed down from their stance that allowing subscriptions without a confirmation step is OK. The fact remains that CC at this time is a very controversial company. That Tucows doesn't know this, or think it's even worth discussing, concerns me greatly. If Tucows thinks of Roving/CC as an up-front, white hat, mailing company, then you haven't done your homework. -Chris ========================================================== Chris Candreva -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- (914) 967-7816 WestNet Internet Services of Westchester http://www.westnet.com/ _______________________________________________ domains-gen mailing list [email protected] http://discuss.tucows.com/mailman/listinfo/domains-gen
