Problem with PHP5 is it is not compatible with most of the control panel 
systems hosts use.
Also, it causes customers PHP4 scripts to stop working so it has to be very 
conservatively implemented.

At this point someone is going to say you can run both on the one server.
Not if you have hundreds of them to maintain....
