I have a situation with Register.com claiming my client's domain is
about to expire when in fact it was transferred in to Tucows in
February with a year added then.

 

He was told that the domain had not been transferred.

 

What is the notification procedure with CIRA. Am I correct to assume
that CIRA notifies the losing registrar of the transfer away? Is it
one single email that they may have missed? Are there any other
mechanisms in place?

 

The customer service rep on the phone could do a simple CIRA WHOIS
lookup to confirm, correct? Is there another way for a registrar to
check whether they are still the registrar of record?
