Hi Jo,
The easiest way to confirm they are no longer the registrar would be to
do a whois lookup on the domain. CIRA whois is authoritative, so they
can confirm Tucows is the registrar and then remove the name from their
internal databases to end the expiry notices.

The customer service rep on the phone could do a simple CIRA WHOIS
lookup to confirm, correct? Is there another way for a registrar to
check whether they are still the registrar of record?
