Me again. Before anyone else writes in to correct me, I am going to correct myself. ;+)
It has been pointed out to me (thanks all) that back in 2005 the original intent was indeed for Resellers to share auction revenue with the former registrant of the domain. Apparently some of our Resellers did just that. In Internet years, however, 2005 was a *long* time ago. Today, sadly, the auction and parking world is far less 'innocent' so we have to protect programs such as these from potential abuse, hence the change in reporting. That is certainly not the business model for the new auction, nor is it the model for our Domain Parking Program (which I also manage), since it opens the programs up for potential abuse. In other words, we're delighted to share auction revenue (and other passive revenue streams) with our Resellers to thank you for being our loyal customers, but we're not expecting you to share that revenue with your customers. This is a question that's been bugging me for a while and was refreshed recently when we got a $76 credit for auction revenue. If we can't identify the domain, we can't identify the original owner, so in essence, you're just paying off the RSPs to inspire them to co-operate... sorry to put it in negative terms like that. -Tom _______________________________________________ domains-gen mailing list [email protected] http://discuss.tucows.com/mailman/listinfo/domains-gen
