As Laurin has already posted, this is to confirm that Michael performed a great show at the Birchmere in Alexandria,VA. With a crowd of app 1,000 I was about 20 feet from the stage. Michael was clean shaven except for a little hair on the chinny chin chin. He played for almost 2 hrs., and performed his hits as well as the Doobies: Minute By Minute, Here To Love You, Takin it to the Streets, What a Fool Believes, It Keeps You Runnin, You Belong To me. When Skunk came in as a guest for Takin It To The Streets, it was an experience that I will never forget. Of course, Skunk had to have a chair and then broke a string on Bernies guitar within 2 mins.
Michael has not lost a note, his voice is incredible, his showmanship has developed and he truly controls the crowd, and this was a crowd that came to hear him. He fed off of that and delivered a personal and at times with some of his slow songs, a heart renching performance. With Mike and Skunk it was like going back to 76-81 with a phase of the Doobies in that era. With alot of sax, quitar, and blues/ soul this a concert not to be missed if anyway possible you can attend.
It was great to see Laurin again, we gave each other a couple of high5's as the night progressed. The only thing better would have been a Doobie reunion, I hope this takes place for all of you fortunate enough to get to Saratoga.
