After 10 years of waiting and a hard day at the office, how
sweet it is to come home and hear new MUSIC from the Doobies. As their music
has constantly developed , changed through the years, this is Y2K Doobies. The
McFee, Knudson, Hossack influence is prevelant with McFee really struting his
many instrument talents. The harmonies are the best the Doobs have ever done.
The dual guitar licks are awesome. It is obvious that much time was spent in the
background licks, whether it be steel, mandolin, guitar or double bass drums on
Rockin Horse. Russo kicks butt, and Guy added just enough organ and piano to
compliment the guitar work from Pat, Tom and John. I wish the credits were
there, I really don't know who's singing several songs. When I get past Pat and
Tom, I'm lost.
There is a totally different bass pattern on 45th floor from
the IMIX version, a collectors item at this point. It changes the song from
country to rock. This entire CD is a total new Doobie Brothers endeavor,
allowing all to contribute. Maybe thats where the Rivalry comes in. It is really
something to hear organ, piano, guitar, mandolin and steel harmonize together.
True musicians all, Doobies all, the best MUSIC I've heard in ssoooooo many
years. The new Doobs CD will take a few listening toos, then you'll start
hearing new stuff within each song, and appreciate the effort that has been
given us.
Thanks to the Brothers for another album, as I go to Jericho,
ride a Rockin Horse and tell my wife I Can't Stand To Lose. Luv It I
do!!!
