Do any other middle aged fans remember seeing the Doobies on TV, New
Years Eve, probably 1974? (1975?) It was the first time I knew Tom was
missing. There was this new guitar player with glasses and a big
moustache, standing on the left end of the stage, where Pat usually was.
It was Skunk Baxter. The Doobies played JIJA, Down in the Track, China
Grove and I'm not sure if Black Water was played or not. Olivia Newton
John was also on the show. Chicago may have been on there too. I
remember Tiran in a sort of '40's gangster suit with a hat. I wish I had
a tape of it! Jack
