I remember! I think it was '75. I remember them being introduced by
Chicago's conga player at the time, something like this..."An now, here dey
are, Doobie Brodders!" I recall it being one of the best Rockin' Eves ever.
The Doobs and Chicago both rocked the place. There were no ultra cool, ultra
slick, self-promoting announcers back then. Now the show is mostly glitz &
very little music. Chicago did a wild instrumental at midnight as I recall
and yes, I think "Black Water" was done by the Doobies. By the way, did
anyone catch them a couple of years ago on Sinbad's New Year's show? It too
was a great show with Hootie & the Blowfish.
