David,

Thanks for the note regarding holding alternating conventions on the East
Coast and West Coast of the US. Love the idea...just wish it was
feasible...I'd love to have a convention in NYC or Boston. Only 1
problem...at this time, the Doobies are scheduled to be in either of those
cities at this time.

Unfortunately, for those of us living on the East Coast (I'm in Richmond, VA
myself), the Doobies don't play many multiple night stands in one location in
the East. Fortunately for the fans on the West Coast, the Doobies often
play multiple night stands on the West Coast (Vegas & Saratoga last year, LA
& Saratoga this year).

To hold a truly successful convention, we have to make it worth the trouble
for fans from around the world to make the journey to a convention site. A
convention held in conjunction with one show isn't going to attract too many
fans from great distances (unless you happen to speak with a heavy Australian
accent and have a truly understanding wife).

Essentially, there are 3 characteristics that make for successful conventions:

1) Multiple Doobie Brothers concerts in one location.
2) Easy air access from all points in the world
3) Affordable hotel accomodations & car rental

Right now, LA & Saratoga fit the bill nicely on both counts. The real
stumbling block with LA right now is the quick timing of everything...the
ticket purchase would be in less than 72 hours and we haven't been able to
make any concrete decisions about LA yet...

If/when the Doobies play some multiple dates in an East Coast city, we'll
jump all over it, I promise...

Until then, hey, I'll take anything we can get...I really wish I had better
news.

Laurin
