Very Sad day indeed!
Although I was never a fan of Dale's he was the man in NASCAR! He will be
missed more that I can say! I think it will change NASCAR forever in my
opinion. You cannot replace an Icon of the sport. He was truly the best
driver ever to run a stock car.
Mike R and I were at the race. I left right as Michael Waltrip crossed the
finish line for his first win and 460 some starts. Poor Michael will never
really get the chance to celebrate his huge victory as this overshadows that
and the best 500 race ever by miles.
I saw the crash and thought nothing of it. I wanted to make a dash and beat
the crowd. One hour later, Karen called and asked if I knew that Dale had
died. I could not believe it. I was floored.
I feel for the Earnhardt family! My feeling is if they cannot get Dale Jr. to
take over that ride eventually the black Goodwrench Service #3 should be
retired and never run again. Good bless you Dale! You will surely be missed.
