Fellow Doob Fans,
This morning's preview of the Behind the Music expose on the Doobie Brothers
(and I loved the Journey and Chicago ones as well) left me with one
perception.
Hero of the story Mr. Patrick Simmons (full respects to
Bobby LaKind)
He has stood ardent and steadfast throughout the entirety of the 13 versions
of the band. He has been the rock around which two flavors of the band, 1)
a rollicking guitar band and 2) a soulful blues keyboard band has sustained
itself. Mr. Patrick Simmons was the glue that kept the Doobie Brothers
together though circumstances and egos that would have torn other bands
permanently asunder.
Mr. Patrick Simmons, my hat is off to you tonight my friend. You are the
reason why we are all celebrating here and now.
