Ann and I just got back from Richmond, VA and
would like to take a minute to thank our President for a most wonderful BTM
party.
The trip (7 hours from here, 4 hours if you follow
Steve Adams LOL) was rainy and dreary, the company was warm and
wonderful!
Steve A, Steve W and their wonderful wives joined
us at the Holiday Inn in Richmond where we had drinks and told stories until
Laurin joined us. We ate dinner at Lonestar and followed Laurin
to party central for the premiere. Party central was held at Laurins
fathers home. What a wonderful man! He not only welcomed us into his
beautiful home, he watched the show with us and muted the TV during the
commercials so we could discuss the previous segment. We got to watch the
show on a LARGE screen TV in a comfortable room (the size of a football field)
that is filled with memories of trips taken. Spending time with Mr.
Willis you can see where our President gets his sense of humor as well as
a lot of his other good qualities. I can't thank him enough for
opening his beautiful home to this rowdy bunch.
Laurin and Suzie must have worked forever to put
this party together. Thank you both for the welcome, the food, drink and
friendship. What fun! Laurin prepared food. Yes, it is true,
our president can cook. Ann says he's a good cook too. Suzie
said he cooks the exotic foods and she cooks the traditional.
(Sounds like a good match to me.)
I loved the premiere however, I agree with Holly...
I know the drugs and problems were a part of the makeup and breakup of the band
and it's members. I also know that they have to be shown because they
are part of the base that is the Doobie Brothers but
I love the Doobie Brothers for their music and the
wonderful work they do and wish the focus of this show would have leaned more in
that direction.
I thank VH1 for putting this together for us.
They gave me a new tape to watch over and over. A little something to get
me through to the next concert.
For those who want stories on the President, call
his wife or his father. Last night we heard lots of stories from the two
people who know him best. I especially liked the story of his first Doobie
Brothers concert (he was in second grade I believe). Mr Pres. you are a
true Doobie fan. I knew it before and I believe it even more now.
How many parents would let you bring a bunch of people over AND watch the show
with them? If you can get parents as fans, and you have, I believe you can
get anyone.
