Here is the quick reply I got from my favorite
morning DJ. I have already sent a copy of this to their program
director. At least someone is listening, maybe I should just go buy a copy
of SR and send it to them. What do you think?

Bobbi,
I wish I'd seen the Doobie special. I'll be
looking for it. The new music from classic bands is a question we've gone
round and round about at the station. If you'd really like to make some
headway you may want to email [EMAIL PROTECTED]
. He's our program director and really does put a lot of stock in listener
input. In fact, this station does more local listener research than any
I've ever dealt with.
In the mean time, let me know if the new Doobie
album is any good. If for no other reason, I wish we played new music from
these groups just so I could get free copies of the new CD's!
Thanks for keeping me posted.
Yer Buddy,
Kevin

Dear Kevin,
It's your Doobie fanatic in
Dardanelle checking in. A few months ago I wrote and asked if you could
play anything off the new Doobie Album, Sibling Rivalry. You said you
would check into it, but I got the idea if it wasn't classic it was not going
to get played. Being the fanatic that I am, I have to try again.
In the past couple of weeks I have heard you mention a couple of times that
Journey has a great show on VH1's Behind The Music and that they have a new
album coming out. Guess what? The Doobies also have a recent
Behind The Music episode. Now while I will admit I have never been as
big of a fan of Journey as I am of the Doobies, I do like their music. I
do wonder though, if I listen to The Point, which is a classic rock station,
how will I know if I like any of the new stuff off Journey's upcoming
album? So, while I was contemplating this and stewing over the fact that
I wished you would mention the same about the Doobies I came upon an
idea. I know that Ordinary Man off of Sibling Rivalry is in the top 40
of the adult contemporary stations. I know this from the fan club, not
because I listen to an A/C station. I like The Point. However,
wouldn't it be a great idea if Classic Rock stations, could occassionally play
some of the new stuff that our classic rock groups put out? I know that
songs don't become classic overnight, but these groups deserve to have their
new music played so that people know they are still out there rocking. I
wish the Doobies would come back to Little Rock and that The Point could
sponsor the concert, then maybe I could even introduce my favorite DJ to my
favorite group. Below is a link showing the next dates that VH1 will be
playing the Doobies episode. I hope you get the chance to check it
out. I think you will really enjoy it.
Looking forward to hearing from you
soon.
