Does anybody have a favorite battery / power manager chip or module? I'm working on a project that will be powered with 6xNiCd (7.2V). I need 3.3v for microcontroller & Bluetooth module, straight 7.2V for audio, and will have to boost 7.2V up to 40V to run a big electromechanical ringer circuit. (Yes, I'm building a Bluetooth Porto-Rotary!)
I've used various devices to buck & boost battery voltage, but never did anything with charging. I'd like to be able to charge from a USB connection (5V->7.2V). AIUI, you can trickle-charge NiCd at C/10 indefinitely, so my plan is to charge whenever USB-Vbus is available. If the batteries get really depleted, I can open the case and fast-charge them with a big charger.
