That sounds like the ticket!  If I really can get 8 of these at $34 each, the 
whole
project might just be affordable.  I guess I'd also need a teensy and an octoWS 
adapter board,
and a large enough 5v power supply … some RJ45 connectors and some Cat6 … 
solder … what else?
So far it's looking like less than $400.

I do like the bluetooth serial idea, but I wonder:
with all those LEDs strung all over the place and chattering, should I worry 
about
radio interference?  Will Bluetooth be reliable, in other words?

I have no idea how to size the power supply.  I can't find a maximum amperage
rating on the WS2812B data sheet. I would probably never drive the whole thing
100% on, except maybe for testing.  I know Paul has done plenty of this stuff …
Paul, what power supply would you recommend for approximately 1200 LEDS (
8 x 5 meters x 30 lights/meter)?
