They've not fixed the firmware on it. Got a new one shipped (work bought me one) a couple months back. Same problems as my older one had until I replaced the hardware. http://michael.stapelberg.de/Artikel/kinesis_custom_controller/ is a guide to changing out the hardware and even includes a teensy in the build.
