I know there's a strong overlap between the PARTS and Dorkbot membership,
but I think this month's talk might have broader interest so I want to
give you all a heads up.

I'm pleased to announce that Brett Lee will be giving the presentation
this month. Brett is a mechanical engineer with experience in the
automotive industry, best known in this group for his composite multirotor
frames (http://www.pandionmultirotors.com/). Brett will be taking us
through the basics of linkage and actuator design.

Brett will be focusing on practical things like pros/cons of rotary vs
linear actuators, good pivot design, and some basic kinematics with an
emphasis on fabrication tools available to robotics hobbyists (3D printer,
laser cutter, router).

He'll also talk about talk about specc'ing and obtaining mechanical parts
(servos, gears, bearings, etc).

Meeting info:

Saturday Feb 7, 10:30 am, room FAB-150, Portland State Univ (SW 4th Ave &
College St.). Details and directions are available at
http://www.portlandrobotics.org/

Thanks!

Jeff
