I've used black spray paint to (try and) evenly coat copped-clad
circuit boards, then laser-etch away the paint to get ready for copper
etch... I was able to get an SSOP breakout made, which wiki says lead
spacing is "0.050 in (1.27 mm)"

It would probably be prettier if you can get away with just lasered
paint, rather than needing to etch the copper like I did.
