Odd - I am using it routinely on several AWS servers and have not noticed
that but then I have not really looked.

E.g. I have one instance where screen was started running on 1st September
and has used 17h30m CPU , which averages out to under 1% CPU.

Keys are configurable; my gripe was that it grabbed Ctrl-A which is like
chopping off an Emacs user's ring finger ;-) So I mapped its attention key
to Ctrl-\ and I am a happy bunny.
htop I have running constantly in one screen 'window' and the F keys and
other keys work fine here... ymmv I suppose.
